Active Autowerke delivers perhaps its most impressive forced induction tour de force: taking on the complex & difficult MS45 software native to the E46 330i. And winning.

Extensive system testing and an insane amount of patience were required – but after more than 10 years devoted exclusively to the development of proprietary software for matching turbocharger and supercharger systems to numerous BMWs, getting our heads around the dark secrets of MS45 was only a matter of time… and never-say-die stubbornness.

Once we knew how to make the software bend to our wishes, we could teach the car how to get along with an incredibly cool hardware upgrade – an Autorotor twin screw compressor and an advanced air-to-water heat exchanger to serve it.

One of the main project goals was to deliver hardcore power within a framework of crisp, smooth acceleration throughout the powerband – along with uncompromised daily drivability and reliability. We nailed it. A session in the cockpit of a TS-equipped 330i is an experience one can only describe as “totally amazing”. The instant acceleration rivals that of a fat V8, with 90% of peak torque achieved before you even pass 2500 rpms! Awesome. Double awesome.
